Vendors must develop products that can be used by security architects and security operations teams to improve OT cyber defenses. Security vendors specifically develop tools and technologies to protect and monitoring their environments, while control systems vendors developing devices that support the core operational processes. Vendors must understand current threats to OT systems and how various mitigations can be developed to protect against them.​
